Aultman Alliance Community Hospital to Hold Multiple Free Events to Promote Mental Health Awareness Month in May
To promote awareness of and decrease the stigma around mental illness, Aultman Alliance Community Hospital will host a free education session in Conference Room 1A on May 6, as well as a health fair on May 17 and several chair yoga sessions throughout the month.
“One in five adults in the U.S. have experienced a mental health issue, yet there are still a lot of misconceptions about mental health and its impact on people’s lives,” said Megan King, clinical pharmacy specialist, AACH. “These events give us an opportunity to dispel some of those misconceptions while educating people about the real effects of mental illness.”
All events will be held in Conference Room 1A at the hospital, and attendees will have their names entered into a drawing for a self-care/mental health gift basket for each event they attend. The May 6 education session will take place from noon – 1 p.m., featuring a presentation from Abena Holben, LPC. On May 17, AACH will host a free community health fair featuring health resource booths on various topics from noon – 1 p.m. Chair yoga sessions will be available from 1 – 2 p.m. on May 1, 8, 15 and 22. All events are open to the public, and no RSVP is required.
