A mammogram is a special breast X-ray that can reveal the presence of small cancers up to 2 years before you or your health care provider can feel them. Mammography services can also be used to detect and diagnose breast disease in women experiencing symptoms such as lump, pain, skin dimpling or nipple discharge.

Early diagnosis of breast cancer saves lives.
Most women who are diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease.
As you get older, your risk of having breast cancer increases.
Mammography is safe, and having a mammogram is easier than you think.

Complement your regular mammograms by seeing your doctor or other health care provider on a regular basis and examining your breasts monthly.

What to expect during mammography services:

It is important not to wear deodorant, talcum powder or lotion under your arms or on your breasts during the day of the exam so they are not mistaken as calcium spots. You should also leave jewelry at home and wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. You may be asked to wear a gown. Our technologist will position you in the mammography unit and adjust compression to allow for accurate imaging.
