Aultman Alliance Community Hospital to Hold Multiple Free Events to Promote Mental Health Awareness Week on May 9 and 10

To promote awareness of and decrease the stigma around mental illness, Aultman Alliance Community Hospital will host a free walk around the hospital on May 9, as well as a guest speaker on May 10.

“One in five adults in the U.S. have experienced a mental health issue, yet there are still a lot of misconceptions about mental health and its impact on people’s lives,” said Megan King, clinical pharmacy specialist, AACH. “These events give us an opportunity to dispel some of those misconceptions while educating people about the real effects of mental illness.”

The free mental health awareness walk will take place at noon on May 9, and participants will join AACH professionals to complete two laps around the hospital campus. Along the way, they will see messages including myths and facts surrounding mental illness.

On May 10, also at noon, Stacey Fleming, counselor with Aultman Behavioral Health, will give a special one-hour presentation about mental health in the hospital’s McAlister Room.

Both events are open to the public, and no RSVP is required.
